Privacy
The short version: no analytics, no ads, no cookies, no accounts. What you save stays on your device.
What we don’t do
- No analytics or tracking scripts, no advertising, no cookies, no accounts or sign-ins.
- The site’s only scripts are its own files. Its security policy blocks scripts from anywhere else.
What stays on your device
- My parishes: the churches you star are saved in your browser’s local storage. They never leave your device, and there’s no copy on our side.
- Your city filter: the last city you picked is remembered the same way.
- Offline copy: a service worker keeps a cache of the site’s pages and schedule data so they work without a connection.
To erase all of it, clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
Your location
Only when you tap Near me does your browser ask to share your location. If you allow it, it’s used on your device to sort churches by distance and estimate drive times. It is never stored and never sent to us or anyone else.
The map
The map shows map images (tiles) from OpenStreetMap. When you open it, your browser loads those tiles from tile.openstreetmap.org, which sees your IP address and the area you’re viewing, under the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy (external site). Other pages don’t contact OpenStreetMap. The church pins and list come from NextPew itself.
Links to other sites
Directions open Google Maps. Parish websites and bulletins, the diocese, and the USCCB readings are other sites with their own privacy policies. We only link to them.
Messages to [email protected] go to the NextPew team. We use them only to check and fix listings and to reply to you. We don’t add you to any list or share your address.
Hosting
Like any website, our host handles the network requests needed to deliver pages, including your IP address. We don’t use the host’s analytics.
A future weekly email
A Friday email with the week’s times is planned but not live, and there’s nothing to sign up for yet. If it launches, it will use Buttondown (external site) with open and click tracking turned off and double opt-in (you confirm by email before anything is sent). We’ll update this page before it goes live.
